The Restaurant
Situated on the first floor and overlooking the main town square, our restaurant is the ideal location for an evening meal or family ‘get together’.
The restaurant has real character with space for an intimate couple to dine privately in their own ‘booth’ or larger tables for groups. The first floor bar, close to a spacious lounge area with leather sofas, provides the atmosphere to relax and unwind after the long working week. A covered cobblestone alleyway leads to the restaurant entrance, which is separate from the main bar.
As you would expect, locally sourced, fresh ingredients form the basis of our menu.
Beef, lamb and pork farmed in the area and fish caught around the neighbouring coastline, ensures that our chef starts with the freshest and very best produce available, to prepare a menu offering traditional ‘pub grub’ as well as something a little different on special occasions.
A wide selection is available - from sandwiches and baguettes to a rib eye steak - together with a ‘kids’ menu and vegetarian options. The main menu is supplemented by daily ‘specials’ and, during the summer months, Devon cream teas are also offered. You can even enjoy our hog roast on Barnstaple carnival day.
Food is served daily between 11-3 and 6-9pm.
For that ‘special occasion’ - wedding , anniversary or birthday - the restaurant area and function room can be exclusively yours for the evening. Create your own ambiance and menu in consultation with our chef and experienced event organiser. Whatever your budget we can guide in hosting the perfect celebration.
